I have been a fan of Jimmy Fallon since he was on Saturday Night Live doing skits like Jarret’s room.  During the entire Conan versus Jay debacle, he kept his mouth shut, and now he has been rewarded.  He hosted the 2010 Emmys, and he was awesome. The skits were hysterical, he can do a mean Green Day imitation, and I love how he asked people to tweet introductions for some of the presenters. Nice.  Three cheers for Jimmy!!  The rest of the show…meh.  I mean I’m happy that Mad Men and Glee won for best Drama and Best Comedy, I’m just upset about the entire 30 Rock, The Office and True Blood shut out.  Come on!  Again, I was excited that Jane Lynch and Eric Stonestreet won for Best Supporting Actress and Actor in a Comedy, but throw a bone to Steve Carell!  And even Edie Falco was surprised to win for Best Actress in a Comedy.  I am pretty sure that more people will be watching one of my favorite tv shows, Breaking Bad, now that they swept the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor category.  It was the little show that could, AMC’s breakthrough drama that holds it’s own around the juggernaut called Mad Men.  I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Emmys and I am praying that they bless us next year with Jimmy Fallon as a host again. It was the most anticipated finale for this season.  I don’t know what the writers or J.J. Abrams was smoking but it definitely made them forget to finish the damn series correctly.  Why were there polar bears on a tropical island?  Why did Jacob pick them? How did the plane go down? For real. Don’t tell me about Desmond not pressing the button again. What happened to the dog? Why wasn’t Walter and his son there? Why didn’t Jacob’s brother have a name? I could go on…but I digress.  Some questions were answered and it was nice to see everyone back together again.  It was bittersweet to learn the demise of Jack and the rest of the survivors and I will miss this tv show with all my heart.

I was so psyched to see the new version of the cheesy 80’s movie I loved so much.  And I really wanted to see Sam Worthington naked.  Well, you don’t see him naked, but you do see him kick ass. He has an unpolished charm as Perseus that engages you, and makes up for the mediocre script.  Gemma Arterton travels with him as Io, mortal who was cursed to never age.  Apparently, she also has the ability to avoid dirt, stains, or bruises and can smuggle clean clothes anywhere.  They were in some kind of ditch and she rolls out in a clean toga with a cashmere shawl. Where the hell did she pack that outfit? Perseus and the other men looked like they have been fighting for days, and her makeup was perfect.  Liam Neeson, as Zeus, lets Hades release the Kraken, and the king of Argos has to sacrifice his daughter Andromeda to it so save the city.  I’m sorry, did Hades think the beautiful princess would satiate the Kraken’s appetite? I don’t think she would be enough.  That thing was huge. It took five minutes of the film just to surface from the sea.  Andromeda is like half a potato chip, not even a full appetizer for this thing.  I believe a handful of Pegasi, some maidens and a small army would cover the daily caloric intake for a Kraken not just one measly princess. But I digress…The fight scenes were enough to move the plot forward and the director’s interpretation of Mt. Olympus was beautiful.  I suggest saving your money and see the movie in 2D.  They filmed the movie in 2D and then added the 3D components after, so it may not look as good as Avatar.

It’s true. Ugly Betty will be laid to rest mid-April.  I don’t know if it was the ratings or the moving slots, but Betty is gone! Saving Grace, Three Rivers and The Tudors will meet their makers later this year, and Nip/Tuck has already had it’s last breath.  We all know that Lost is kaput, so what else is there to watch? Well, I love Glee, and Grey’s Anatomy is still going strong.  There is still hope…

It was my favorite awards show, the Oscars and man was it a good ride.  Two hosts are not better than one, I mean Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were funny, but why are they together?  Were they trying to sell the It’s Complicated dvd?  We need one host, and dammit, get Neil Patrick Harris for next year.  That mofo is a gay Billy Crystal: funny, charming, and not to mention, he can sing and dance.  But I digress…I predicted The Hurt Locker would win, as well as Mo’Nique and Sandra Bullock.  I did not expect The Hurt Locker to win for Best Picture.  I thought they would throw Avatar or Inglorious Basterds a bone.  I did not predict Zoe Saldana would wear a dress that looks like Cookie Monster was eating Snuffleupagus.  Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress needs to make up it’s mind: you are backless, halter or a long evening gown; decide! And what the hell, why were Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur cut from the memoriam segment? Then there was the woman who suffered from Kanye West Syndrome. Elinor Burkett interrupted Roger Ross Williams’ acceptance speech, and started talking crazy talk.  I just think that this year’s Oscars was a bowl of fun!

There were not too many upsets this year, except in the Dramatic Actor category.  I didn’t expect Michael C. Hall to win, let alone John Lithgow for Dexter, but damn.  And there was no love for True Blood, so I was disappointed.  I was surprised that Courtney Cox-Arquette was nominated for CougarTown.  It is a great show with cheesiness wrapped up in meaningful vignettes, but it doesn’t have as much gusto as Modern Family. But I digress…Ricky Gervais was awesome and hysterical, especially when he just massacred Mel Gibson’s drinking troubles.  I cannot wait for his new show, aptly titled The Ricky Gervais Show, to hit HBO later this year.

During the first episode of Glee, I kept asking myself who was that redhead? Well it came to me as I was catching up on Heroes.  Her name is Jayma Mays and I am declaring her this year’s network ho. She was Charlie in the first season of NBC’s Heroes. Then she skipped over to ABC for season one of Ugly Betty, and finally she got in good with FOX on the new hit Glee. Well now this girl has whored herself back again to Heroes. Damn. She’s doing two networks at once.  If this ratings hoochie sneaks back to Ugly Betty, I’m going to shoot someone.

First, they aired the series finale of Pushing Daisies unannounced. Now ABC is airing the last four episodes of Dirty Sexy Money.  I’m sorry, was I hallucinating or was the show canceled?  Just what the Tom Jones is going on with that network? Can they say something, have a commercial or issue a tweet about it? Luckily, my awesome boyfriend, TiVo, had a season pass for it, so I was good to go.  They did Eli Stone dirty too.

I was in love with the series Pushing Daisies since it’s first episode.  The town of Coeur d’Coeurs has a mystical yet nifty ’50s feel.  It was non-threatening, had morals and values, and no foul language.  Ned was adorable, Chuck was endearing, and I think Emmerson Cod was a hoot! My favorite quote from the show was “Maybe she has gone all Blood Simple…hiding her victims all up in snowmen.” The writing was just spectacular.  How can Ned bring dead things back to life? How can he have a relationship with Chuck, whom he could never touch? (I should talk, I mean, I’m in a relationship with TiVo!) How can you make enough money to live on with your own pie shop? None of these questions were answered in the series finale, but it doesn’t matter.  The majestic fields of daisies, rolling hills, clean streets, and delicious pies will always be a comforting memory to me. Rest in peace, Pushing Daisies.
