Jimmy Fallon hosting the Emmys 2010, courtesy of LATimes.com
I have been a fan of Jimmy Fallon since he was on Saturday Night Live doing skits like Jarret’s room. During the entire Conan versus Jay debacle, he kept his mouth shut, and now he has been rewarded. He hosted the 2010 Emmys, and he was awesome. The skits were hysterical, he can do a mean Green Day imitation, and I love how he asked people to tweet introductions for some of the presenters. Nice. Three cheers for Jimmy!! The rest of the show…meh. I mean I’m happy that Mad Men and Glee won for best Drama and Best Comedy, I’m just upset about the entire 30 Rock, The Office and True Blood shut out. Come on! Again, I was excited that Jane Lynch and Eric Stonestreet won for Best Supporting Actress and Actor in a Comedy, but throw a bone to Steve Carell! And even Edie Falco was surprised to win for Best Actress in a Comedy. I am pretty sure that more people will be watching one of my favorite tv shows, Breaking Bad, now that they swept the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor category. It was the little show that could, AMC’s breakthrough drama that holds it’s own around the juggernaut called Mad Men. I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Emmys and I am praying that they bless us next year with Jimmy Fallon as a host again. Check out the list of winners here.

During the first episode of Glee, I kept asking myself who was that redhead? Well it came to me as I was catching up on Heroes. Her name is Jayma Mays and I am declaring her this year’s network ho. She was Charlie in the first season of NBC’s Heroes. Then she skipped over to ABC for season one of Ugly Betty, and finally she got in good with FOX on the new hit Glee. Well now this girl has whored herself back again to Heroes. Damn. She’s doing two networks at once. If this ratings hoochie sneaks back to Ugly Betty, I’m going to shoot someone.

I am thoroughly disappointed at the results of Dancing With The Stars and American Idol. Giles was clearly the better dancer, even though Shaun showed the most improvement. And even though Kris can sing, Adam can sang! I don’t care if you’re from France and you showed all your junk in the Sex and the City movie, I don’t care if you might be gay, if you’re the better candidate, I’m going to vote for you. Why am I voting if it doesn’t make a difference! Ugh.

the crazy Fringe, pic courtesy of NY Times
Fringe is like The X-Files on crack. I keep asking myself how the writers can possibly top the previous show, and my answer is in the next episode. I thought the oozing brain storyline was clever, but no, the man transforming into a juiced up porcupine was brilliant. And then the mother of all mindfucks was cleverly played out in the most recent episode. Fringe just gets better and better. Anna Torv plays the enigmatic FBI agent Olivia Dunham who is usually knee deep in some sort of goo. Joshua Jackson and John Noble play the son and father sidekicks who dissect, scoop up and analyze the goo or other freaks of nature. Fringe returns in April with brand new episodes, but until then, you can watch full episodes online.

The following shows just got the big heave ho. This means less time with my boyfriend.
- Pushing Daisies (ABC)
- Prison Break (Fox)
- Swingtown (CBS)
- Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)
- The Riches (FX)
- Eli Stone (ABC)
- The Ex List (CBS)
- My Own Worst Enemy (NBC)
- Knight Rider (NBC)
I thought Swingtown was a wonderful show, and Dirty Sexy Money was my guilty pleasure. But oh, Pushing Daisies, I’ll miss you the most. On the upside, Lipstick Jungle is still in the running for this fall. Tell me what you think.
